Thanks to national and international researchers that share our cause, Soliman bay is building its own open access science library.
Through walks and talks we learn to observe, identify and care for the native flora, fauna and fungi of our community.
Between 2016-2023, our community network contributed to the release of more than 45,700 Green and Loggerhead turtles. Amigos de Soliman doesn´t coordinate this program from 2024
In 2020 and 2021, Dr. Newman and Eng. Graham funded and conducted 2 seagrass mappings and bathymetry of Soliman Bay. The objective was to have a reference point for the expected climate changes.
From 2012-2015, 19 houses in Soliman bay and the Water Sciences Unit of Yucatan scientific study center (CICY) ,evaluated the efficiency of domestic wastewater treatment through artificial wetlands.
Results allowed us to improve some designs and reduce pollution to water bodies.
From 2007-2008, before Tulum became a municipality, the small community of Soliman Bay organized themselves to be responsible for the separation of recyclable waste, its collection and final disposal.
This program ended due to a lack of logistics at the state level.
